Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the HomeProof mobile application published by Vellora Studio. By downloading or using HomeProof, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Introduction

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and Vellora Ops Ltd ("we", "us", "our", "Vellora Studio") governing your download, installation, and use of the HomeProof mobile application ("the App") on any iOS or Android device.

By downloading or using the App, you confirm that you are aged 18 or over (or have obtained parental or guardian consent if aged 13–17), that you have legal capacity to enter into this agreement, and that you accept these Terms in full. If you do not accept these Terms, you must not download or use the App.

3. The App

HomeProof is a personal household contents inventory application. It enables users to catalogue rooms, items, valuations, serial numbers, photos, and receipts for the purpose of home and contents insurance claims preparation and general household management.

The App operates entirely offline. No internet connection is required for core functionality. All data is stored locally on your device. The App does not have a server-side component and does not transmit your data to us or any third party.

HomeProof is available for:

  • iOS: requires iOS 14.0 or later
  • Android: requires Android 7.0 (API level 24) or later

4. Licence to Use

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, personal licence to download and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

This licence does not permit you to:

  • Copy, modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
  • Rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicence the App
  • Create derivative works based on the App
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App
  • Use the App for any commercial purpose
  • Circumvent or disable any security or digital rights management features

This licence is granted as permitted by Apple's App Store Terms of Service or Google Play's Terms of Service (as applicable), and is subject to the End User Licence Agreement ("EULA") associated with each store. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and those of Apple or Google, the platform terms govern your use of the App through their respective stores.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not use the App in any way that:

  • Is unlawful or fraudulent
  • Is intended to or may harm another person
  • Involves recording items you do not own for the purpose of fraudulent insurance claims
  • Breaches any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
  • Infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party

The free tier is provided indefinitely. We reserve the right to adjust the limits of the free tier in future versions, with advance in-app notice of at least 30 days.

7. In-App Purchases

HomeProof Premium is available as a single non-consumable in-app purchase (product ID: homeproof_premium_lifetime) at a one-time price of £9.99 (your local currency equivalent may vary based on your region and the applicable App Store or Google Play pricing).

“One-time” means you pay once and own the upgrade permanently, with no subscription and no recurring charge. The upgrade is linked to your Apple ID or Google account and can be restored to all your devices at no additional cost using the in-app “Restore Purchases” function.

All billing and payment processing is carried out by Apple (for App Store purchases) or Google (for Google Play purchases). Vellora Ops Ltd does not receive, hold, or process your payment card details. Payment is subject to the billing terms and conditions of your respective platform.

Price changes

The current price of HomeProof Premium (£9.99) is fixed at the time of purchase. If we change the price in future, you will not be charged more; you already own the upgrade permanently. New customers would pay the then-current price.

8. Right to Cancel

Under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel certain purchases within 14 days without giving any reason (the "cooling-off period").

Important: Digital content exception

In accordance with Regulation 37, if you have expressly requested that performance of the digital content begin before the end of the cancellation period (i.e. you begin using the premium features immediately after purchase), you acknowledge that your right to cancel is lost once performance has begun. By completing your purchase and immediately accessing Premium features, you agree to waive your 14-day right to cancel.

All refund requests must be submitted to the platform through which you made your purchase:

  • iOS/Mac: Contact Apple Support at reportaproblem.apple.com
  • Android: Contact Google Play Support via play.google.com/store

Vellora Ops Ltd does not have the ability to issue refunds directly for App Store or Google Play purchases.

9. Your Data

All content you create within HomeProof, including home and room names, item descriptions, valuations, serial numbers, photos, and notes, belongs entirely to you.

Because the App operates offline and stores data locally, we have no access to your content at any time. We cannot see it, modify it, or disclose it to third parties. Your data cannot be lost due to a server failure on our part, because no such server exists.

10. Backup Responsibility

Because your data is stored solely on your device, you are solely responsible for maintaining your own backups. We strongly recommend that you:

  • Enable your device's automatic iCloud or Google account backup to protect your HomeProof data as part of your overall device backup.
  • Use the in-app encrypted backup feature (HomeProof Premium) to create an independent .homeproof file stored in a second location such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or a computer.
  • Regularly verify that your backups are complete and restorable.

Vellora Ops Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss of data caused by device loss, device failure, accidental deletion, app uninstallation, or failure to maintain adequate backups.

11. Insurance Disclaimer

HomeProof is a documentation and inventory management tool. It is not an insurance product, a financial product, or a professional valuation service. Nothing in the App constitutes professional advice of any kind.

In particular:

  • Item valuations are entered by you and represent your own estimate. HomeProof does not verify, validate, or guarantee any valuation. Insurance companies apply their own assessment criteria independently.
  • The Underinsurance Checker calculates an estimated "sum insured" based on rebuild cost benchmarks and the valuations you have entered. This is a rough guide only. It does not constitute a professional reinstatement valuation, a structural survey, or advice from a financial adviser or actuary. You should always obtain a professional survey for accurate building sum insured figures.
  • HomeProof does not guarantee that any insurance claim will be successful, that your insurer will accept your inventory as evidence, or that your policy will cover any given item or loss. You should consult your insurer for guidance on your specific policy.
  • HomeProof is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and does not provide regulated financial advice.

12. Intellectual Property

The App, including its source code, design, graphics, interface, content, name ("HomeProof"), and associated branding, is owned by Vellora Ops Ltd and is protected by United Kingdom and international intellectual property laws.

You are not granted any licence to the App's intellectual property other than the limited personal use licence described in section 4. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

The content you create in the App (your inventory, photos, notes) remains your property. By using the App you do not grant Vellora Ops Ltd any licence to your content, as we have no access to it.

13. App Availability & Updates

We will endeavour to maintain HomeProof and issue updates on a reasonable basis. However, we do not guarantee that:

  • The App will remain available on the App Store or Google Play indefinitely
  • Any particular feature will remain available in future versions
  • The App will be compatible with future operating system versions
  • Updates will be available at any particular time

Because your data is stored locally, if the App is ever removed from sale, your existing installation will continue to function until you change or replace your device. You are responsible for exporting your data if you anticipate migration to a new device.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, fit for any particular purpose, or meet your requirements.
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App.
  • We shall not be liable for loss of data arising from device failure, accidental deletion, or failure to maintain adequate backups.
  • We shall not be liable for any insurance claim outcome, underinsurance, or financial loss arising from reliance on any App estimate or output.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for HomeProof Premium (£9.99), or nil if you have not made a purchase.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and display an in-app notice on your next launch. Continued use of the App following notice of changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you should stop using the App. If you have purchased HomeProof Premium and disagree with a material change, please contact us within 14 days of notice and we will work with you to find a reasonable resolution.

16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland, except that:

  • If you are a consumer resident in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland, you retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence.
  • Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
